Situated in the commune of Vaison la Romaine, in the southern Rhone valley, just north of Gigondas, are the 25 ha of winemakers Arnaud Dubois and Ben Ughetto vineyards. Originally the winery used to sell all their grapes to the local co-op, but since 2000 when the two lads took over, they have bottled all their own produce. Grapes are picked by hand, yields are very low, and they practise environmentally friendly growing techniques.
Their basic Cotes du Rhone is a textbook example of the good, honest reds that can be made in this area. Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, the wine is medium bodied, soft and juicy, with a slight peppery bite at the end. It's a lovely easy drinking red, with food or without. The 'Irish Independent' said "This Grenache and Syrah blend is a herby, jammy and gamey mix; it’s really terrific value”.
Food Match: red meats, lamb, spicy curries.
